   The Jap could be a Japanese person who crashed his plane in the sea and swam to shore and didn’t want to be a soldier so he swapped his uniform for normal clothes and helped Aussies. Who would think that death is better (being struck by lightning) than trusting a Aussie who helps you (even if you can’t speak their language), or handing yourself in to the Aussies?

   I think he might just be a normal japenese person who might live up on the hills, or maybe he has a house up there that noone has seen. He might just want to help Aussies who need help because he only seems to be seen when someone is in danger or trouble.

   The Jap could have been sent to spy on the Aussies and he might have realised that everyone is suffering and are very scared about the Japs so he hides in the hill so that no one can find him. He helps people just so that if they find him they would not kill him because he saved other peoples life!

   i think the jap couuld be just a normal japanese person on hooliday. Or he might not even a japanese person. he might juusst be a japanese perslon who lives in the hills.

   I think that the jap is just a normal japanese person that went to Australia and then he had to hide up on the hills because Australia thought they were going to be attacked by the japenese so he had to hide otherwise they would have killed him or put him in jail. He could also be a japanese person that dose not want to be a part of the war so he went to Australia.

   i think that maybee the jap came to australia before the war and now if the assies find him at a airport hell be put in prison so he is staying in the hills so they wont find him.
